Etsy Shop Love

Just stumbled upon this lovely Etsy shop! All the products are photographed on a plain white background, which personally, I love. Clean and simple, easy to see the actual product.

Just a little tip for people selling or even blogging online, keep it simple! Too much can distract your viewers from what you want them to focus on :)

Anyways, check out these lovely vintage products!

So much more goodness can be found here. I'm in love!

It's that time again...

Photobucket

Weekend! I thought I'd get outside the computer and write you a happy weekend note on my chalkboard today, instead of using my tablet like usual. Feels good to switch it up every now and again.

Incase you missed it, this week on the blog I did a tutorial on using your tablet to add hand-written words to your blog posts. I also did a little DIY post over on Kelli Murray explaining how to send your far away friends a coffee care package!

So... I'm getting ready to launch a new website pretty soon here- and I need some good pics of myself. (That sounds weird, but in this internet world where you don't see people face to face, I think good photos are key!) I'm so excited to do a little photo shoot with Kristin Rogers this weekend! (She's the one I blogged about here) I'm also nervos, I hate getting my picture taken, and yet, it's so much fun to dress up and be pretty for the day. I hope you all have a wonderful and relaxing 3-day weekend friends.

Enjoy it!!

what's a boon?

Hey everyone! Happy day-before Thanksgiving!!
I hope you all have plans to eat a lot of yummys (preferably pie) and hang out with good friends
and family. I could go on and on about all the things I have to be thankful for this year.
I have been blessed beyond belief- and I thank God for bringing me to the place I am at today.

I'll be taking the rest of the week off to hang out with my family (my sister is in town from Portland!)
and soak in the blessings.

In the meantime, here are some cute Thanksgiving postcards for your viewing- I love the little
illustrations (those pies are huge!!) and sayings...

I'm really confused about this last one though, what is a "friendly boon"??
Maybe they just couldn't think of anything that rhymed well with spoon... hmmmm...
I'm totally gonna use that statement with my grandparents this weekend and see if they know
what I'm talking about... you should do it with me :)

Anyways, Happy Thanksgiving Friends! I'll see you back here Monday!!

beauty advice from the old days

This weekend I was looking for some inspiration in some old books I had bought for
our wedding. I found this old cosmetology book and got a kick out of the
stuff that was in there- some of it I think could be applied to us today... (my best friend
is a cosmetologist, so I usually get my beauty tips from her, knowing next to nothing
myself!) But just take a look at a few of these pages! Funny stuff. (and I really do love the
illustrations!)

I'm so glad they remind us not to be "awkwardly slumped" and to take a daily shower or bath and to use underarm deodorant. Thanks fifty's ladies for the beauty tips on this Tuesday morn!

Angel Court Giveaway!

This giveaway is from Angel Court Jewels. They're giving away one "delta delta delta" necklace-
which was handcrafted in a historic loft in the heart of Mississippi! How cool is that??

I'm a total jeans and t-shirt kind of girl- throw on a few accessories and BAM. You are now
casual with style. This necklace is perfect for just that! It would jazz up any weekend v-neck,
but would also work great in a more formal setting. Valued at $94- it has a vintage brass curb chain
and a lobster claw clasp.

So here's how you enter for a chance to win. Its really easy, promise.

1- Visit Angel Court's online shop. Have some fun browsin.

2- Leave a comment below.

3- Check back on Monday to see if you won! A winner will be chosen at random.
(side note- Monday I'll also show you the final logo for Waterfall Creative!)

I asked Courtney and Angela (the ladies behind Angel Court) a few questions about
running their business and how they stay inspired. Check it out below!

Me: How did Angel Court Jewels begin?
AC: I would like to say over a drink but it was really a lunch date after tennis
that involved a trip to a dumpster downtown.

Me: What has inspired your "rock and roll" style?
AC: We both have artistic, talented mothers who gave us the freedom and
taught us how to design and and  create a unique personal stye. Having always
walked to a different beat,  liking everything in our life to have a bit of an edge,
we find ourselves incorporating this style into every aspect of our lives, fashion,
home and entertaining.

Me: What has been the biggest challenge in finding success in your business?
AC: It isn't very sexy but time management. There isn't ever enough hours in the day!

Me: How do you stay motivated?
AC: Its how we evolve everyday in our lives. We don't want to wear the same
things, so why would we want to design the same thing. We are influenced by movies,
music and travel.

Me: What is the greatest reward of owning and operating Angel Court?
AC: TRAVEL with out question.

Thanks Angela and Courtney! You ladies rock just as much as your jewelry :)

Don't forget to visit their site and leave a comment below! Check back Monday for the
revealing of the winner! Woot woot!

Happy Friday Friends!!

No AC = Not Cool.

Its so stinking hot here in the valley. Not having air conditioning isn't too awesome either.
Last night was spent outside (cause it was hotter in our house than outdoors) walking slowly to
Yogurtland. Then we came home and looked up really good fans on Craigslist.

I even bought otter pops at the store and they arn't even frozen all the way!

Does anyone have any tips for beating the heat in a house built in the 40s with no ac?
We'd love anything you have to tell us!

Ok enough complaining. Happy Thursday friends!

Its secretly always been a dream of mine to create and run a vintage clothing line- I'm inspired by this brand- Makers of Belief. This girl is not your average thrifter. She researches fashion trends, makes her own style boards and then goes out to vintage and antique stores all over the world where she carefully selects unique pieces to fit her vision. I love that. Good stuff.

Thanks Urban Blog for the find.

Dressin in Red

Everyone knows red dresses are so cute. This one is from ModCloth.

And this is an old magazine cover from a Japanese Fashion Mag in the early 60s.

What goes around comes around- and always looks gooood.

Yup. Thats exactly what this is. I was playing around with texture and contrasting colors-
this was the result.

I think I like it. Simple with some flare.
