It's that time again...

Photobucket

Weekend! I thought I'd get outside the computer and write you a happy weekend note on my chalkboard today, instead of using my tablet like usual. Feels good to switch it up every now and again.

Incase you missed it, this week on the blog I did a tutorial on using your tablet to add hand-written words to your blog posts. I also did a little DIY post over on Kelli Murray explaining how to send your far away friends a coffee care package!

So... I'm getting ready to launch a new website pretty soon here- and I need some good pics of myself. (That sounds weird, but in this internet world where you don't see people face to face, I think good photos are key!) I'm so excited to do a little photo shoot with Kristin Rogers this weekend! (She's the one I blogged about here) I'm also nervos, I hate getting my picture taken, and yet, it's so much fun to dress up and be pretty for the day. I hope you all have a wonderful and relaxing 3-day weekend friends.

Enjoy it!!

The Simples.

Yesterday was a long day, with plenty of things going on, including having to attend the funeral
of a family friend.

Life can be strange, and I think it's in these times we have to remember to enjoy and appreciate
the simple things. Like a good hug from a friend who cares, a warm cup of coffee in the morning,
laughing at a stupid movie with your husband, or seeing the sun peaking through the window as it sets. These things are apart of the everyday, and they are the things we remember when looking back.

Happy Wednesday everyone! Remember to embrace the simples.

Today.

Photobucket

Our lives seem to twist and turn without warning- one minute they're going great, and the next
it seems as everything is out of whack. They are so unpredictable and fragile. We don't know what
each day will bring, even thought we pretend we do. When you take the time to think about it,
in the grand scheme of things, we have very little control. But one thing we can do is choose to make the best out of the circumstances we have in front of us. Fight for good or run the other direction.
In the midst of the unpredictability of life, we can choose how to handle it.

I don't always make the best choices when it comes to making the best of things... so it's been
on my mind lately that I can try a little bit harder to have a good attitude and not let the small things
get me down. Today is a new day and I can choose to make it a good one- no matter what the day
may bring.

Today is the first day of the rest of your life- lets make it a good one!

Dogs

This weekend my mom got the cutest little puppy. It was rescued off the side of the road in LA and brought to a shelter. And it's a-dorable. Seeing this little pup made me crave having a dog again, because where we live, we're not allowed to have pets, and it makes me really sad! I want one so bad!

We do have a fish, Sammy. He's a great fish and even gets excited when we come into the room... this fish literally swims up and down in his little bowl whenever we are around. But he's really not cuddly, and doesn't come when you call- and you can't take him on a walk. But he will have to do for now- until we move I guess...

At least he's pretty to look at :)

Finally

I don't know about you guys, but I FINALLY feel like this week I'm getting back into the real swing
of things after the holiday break. My sister was in town from Portland up until this weekend, and it's hard to get anything done when you have family who you don't get to see often in town!

As much as I loved the holidays, it's now nice to get back to normal. Normal eating, working and scheduling. So I'm getting back on the work horse and being productive. It feels good.

Let's do this.

Photobucket
Happy 2012 everyone! Its good to be back. I loved the peace and quiet but am definitely ready to get back to work and excited to be starting off a new year. I hope you all got some good rest and feel ready to start the year off with an inspired kick!

Over the holidays I finally got an iphone!! I don't really know how I lived without a smart phone all this time- but I knew I needed to get one when I started Waterfall Creative. Not being able to see emails unless you're at your computer just wasn't working out for me.

That being said, I totally joined Instagram and am loving it! It's motivating me to document more of the every day life. Which I am realizing, is so fun to look back on later- something I wish I did more of in 2011.

At the beginning of the year there's always tons of talk about goals and what not. I think this is great, but I'm always a bit skeptical, because it's so easy to say things and not follow through. So with my goals for this year, I'm really trying not to say anything that I won't really do. I've thought about these for a few weeks now and thought I would share just a few things that I'm going to try and focus on this year...

Life is so unpredictable, no matter what plans we decide to make, they always change with our circumstances. That's why a lot of my goals are more mindset based. I know when you have the right frame of mind, the goals you want to achieve will come. But it starts with your inner state.

Anyways, I can't wait to see what is in store this year, not just for me, but for you, our country and our world. No one knows what this year will hold- and I pray that as we go through it, good things will come.

So Happy 2012 everyone! Let's do this thing!

PS- I had an interview on this lovely blog yesterday- check it out!

Looking back.

This time last year (Christmas eve) was when Nolan proposed. One of the top 3 best days of my life so far. I can't believe that was a year ago. It's hard to fathom how much can change in such a short amount of time. Our lives can dramatically change with just one question!

Looking back, these are some of my highlights from 2011...

It's really amazing looking back and seeing all of the great changes that have come my way in 2011.
I have been so blessed and feel so fortunate looking back on the year. I have a husband who is more loving, thoughtful and caring than I ever could of imagined. I have my own business that I am loving watch grow, I have wonderful friends and family who support me through everything, and most importantly, a God who knows me in and out, loves me unconditionally, and will ALWAYS be by my side, ready to catch me
when I fall.

So thanks to everyone who has read this blog, your support means so much. I'm so thankful for the people who I've been able to meet here, it brings me joy that people actually want to read this stuff :) I hope you have all had a good year, and if not, I hope you have immense hope for 2012.

So all that being said, Merry Christmas everyone! I'll meet you back here in 2012!! Eat a lot of cookies!!

lets talk about time management for a quick sec...

Photobucket

time management. its tough for me. especially as i get more work, and have more stuff to do.
i'm trying to learn how to get a bunch of stuff done quickly, while still making it look good.
being your own boss is awesome, but it takes a ton of dedication and self-discipline.

i don't want to loose sight of the things that are more important than work. like spending quality time
with my husband, having time to myself, keeping time to pray, exercise, etc. i mean, how do people
do it all?? and do it well? is that even possible?

just some things that i'm trying to figure out here as i get deeper into this running your own business thing.
its awesome, but a huge learning process! but to be honest with you all- i really am loving it. so much!

hope you all have a happy Thursday- its almost the end of the week! make it a good one!
