I over water them, I break the pot it's growing in and never transplant them...
The list goes on.
But while I was up in the Northwest this past week, I got this strangely strong urge
to plant things. All of a sudden I want to plant tulips, vegetables, herbs, lilies, roses...
But because I am challenged in this area, I have to start small, with something low
maintenance and hard to kill.

My answer- succulents. They're easy, pretty, you can grow them in cute jars, tins
and even coffee mugs!
and even coffee mugs!
So here starts my gardening adventures- beginning small, and hopefully leading
to bigger and better things. My goal is tomatoes....

I'm the same way! I haven't cared for a plant in well over 15 years (it's probably best). I have a plant at work now and I really hope that it flourishes. Succulents seem to be a great alternative!

Succulents are great! So are herbs. I'd guess if you plant some herbs outside, in a little garden (raised bed, or in the ground), they'd do great. I have a few tomato plants that I don't have room for. You can have one or two if you want. Plant them beside some basil (companion planting), and they could do well. (I also have basil seeds, if you want some, or even some seedlings.) Other things that I've found easier to successfully grow here in LA: green beans, potatoes, kale, parsley, mint... But you have a yard to plant in, so you may have an easier time!
I think succulents are the way to go. I can't figure out my garden/gardening. I finally had to have someone come and help but the low maintenance, little water needed, are the way to go! Teri
Thanks so much for the encouragement and tips guys :) I'm really excited to get going... Now I just want this weather to clear up so I can get out there!
