Something More

Have you guys ever stopped to think about what you're doing in the world and why? I think we all hit a wall, get burnt out, tired, stressed, and think to ourselves, "what the heck am I doing with my life, and is it worth it?"

I overheard a friend at DesignLife last weekend saying that at the end of your life, are you really going to be lying on your death bed thinking, "Man, I really wish I had more Twitter followers..."

SO true, right? That's not what you're going to be saying. You will be wishing you had spent more time with the ones you love, investing in relationships, going on adventures, stretching yourself, using the gifts you were given and encouraging those around you to be the best they can be. Yet we don't do this. We get caught up with the every day stress of life and forget that our life one day will end.

I think it's these times in life where we have to look at the world around us, and remember that there is a beautiful, miraculous universe functioning day to day, and it has nothing to do with us. The world we interact with daily is sooo small, and there are greater things happening that have nothing to do with you and I. We are apart of something bigger. Something extravagant and beautiful. If you mess up, if you fail miserably, the world keeps spinning.

Take time to think about the blue whales who weigh 150 tons, yet are gracefully moving through the ocean at this very moment. RIGHT NOW that is happening. There are wolves hunting their pray out in the forests, stars exploding at this very minute, and we won't know about it for thousands of years! There is so much we will never comprehend... I find freedom in that. It refreshes me to remember that the world doesn't rest on my shoulders.

Life is more than blogs, businesses, Twitter and Instagram. Step out of this facade of a world we live in and think about what really matters. This life goes by far too fast to forget those things. Don't let it pass you by.

Sip your coffee a bit slower, smell it and savor it.

Ok, enough refection and big-picture talk! Go and enjoy your day!!

Happy Thursday friends!

So true. And jellyfish. I love the ocean. Anytime I feel out of whack or focus the best remedy is a canoe trip, hike, walk by the lake... or even just a drive into the sunset will do. :) Thanks for sharing!

I am glad I randomly came across your post today via Kelli Murray's blog. It was exactly what I needed to hear at this moment. I especially love the part where you talk about using the gifts we've been given. That is something I am struggling with right now.
